Asia - UAE- Adu Dhabi

Like the majority of the world before Tik Tok and its wealth of knowledge, I sat in a little corner of the world known as Malawi thinking that Dubai was a country. Look, I can be honest and I have no problem being able to admit how far my knowledge of the world went. My view in life is that when you know what you don’t know, you become intentional in knowing what you don’t know- a Ms Chirwa philosophy I guess. 

This brings me to my United Arab Emirates travels. Dubai is in fact not a country. It is an Emirate in the UAE (United Arab Emirates). The capital of this tech forward utopia is Abu Dhabi- this too is an Emirate of the UAE. Initially the little knowledge I had of Abu Dhabi was from the famous movie Sex and the City 2. Granted the movie does not do Abu Dhabi any justice. 

I relocated to Abu Dhabi in August 2021 and I plan on visiting the 7 emirates that make up this wonderful country I know have the privilege to call home.  Abu Dhabi is home to Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque- the second largest mosque in the world. It is truly a magnificent sight to behold. My parents and mother in- law visited us and of course I took them to the mosque. Entry to the mosque is free. All you need to do is book your tickets on their official website. 

The famous Louvre Abu Dhabi museum is a must visit for anyone who values a rich showcase of both historical and modern art. The museum puts on a variety of shows and has workshops for children in the children’s museum. 

If you are interested in a fun time with the family, then Yas Island is the place for you. Yas Island offers a variety of theme parks such as Ferrari World, Yas Water World, Warner Bros and the newly opened SeaWorld.  If you're an active person, Yas Marina Circuit  and CLYMB are the perfect places to visit. Everyone know that the best concerts in Abu Dhabi are held at Ethiad Arena and Etihad Park on Yas Island. You are never short of something to do on the island.
